Soccer Marbles Training Drills

Minutes: 12
Players: Unlimited (in groups of 3)
Objective: To develop dribbling and shielding skills
Setup: Use markers to outline a 20-by 30-yard playing area for each group. Three players, each with a ball, position on the perimeter of the area. One player is "it," and the others are chasers.
Procedure: The player who is "it" dribbles into the area. The chasers follow closely and attempt to pass and contact the "it" player's ball with their own. The "it" player attempts to elude the chasers by executing sudden changes of speed and direction while maintaining close control of the ball Play for two minutes, after which players take a brief rest. Players then switch roles and repeat the game. Continue until each player has taken two turns being "it."
Scoring: The "it" player is assessed 1 penalty point each time his or her ball is contacted by one of the chaser's balls. The player with the fewest penalty points at the end of the game wins.
Practice tips: Make the game more challenging by adding an additional chaser to the game or reducing the size of the playing area.
