Henry : Ozil and Sanchez represent Arsenal’s future

Ozil and Sanchez
Thierry Henry thinks Arsene Wenger and the Arsenal hierarchy are “clever enough” to make sure they secure the futures of star duo Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez.

Both players only have 18 months remaining on their existing deals and it is still unclear whether the players are likely to commit to the club with reports suggesting their demands would break the Gunners’ wage structure.

Ozil and Sanchez have been a key part of the reason why Arsenal are unbeaten in the league since the opening day of the season with the latter flourishing in his new role down the middle.

“Arsene Wenger and the club are clever enough to know that they have to secure those deals,” Henry told Sky Sports’ Premier League Daily .

“Are they going to stay? I want them to, but you don’t know what is happening behind closed doors. We both know how important Mesut Ozil is, and even more now how important Alexis Sanchez is. Him playing through the middle has made the real difference this year.

“What he can do is amazing, on and off the ball. If you want to build a future, they are the future of the club. You build the team around those guys.”

Meanwhile, Wenger is hopeful that the pair will agree to new contracts but insists whatever happens they will be Arsenal players for at least the next 18 months.

“These players have 18 months on their contracts and, no matter what happens, they will stay for 18 months. These players will stay here for at least 18 months. Hopefully they’ll stay for longer than that.”
