Minutes: 3 minutes per round or until all players are eliminated, whichever comes first.
Players: 12 to 20 (2 equal-sized teams of 6 to 10)
Objectives: To improve passing and dribbling skills; to develop agility, mobility, and fitness
Setup: Use markers to outline a playing area 25 by 35 yards. Team A stations within the area without soccer balls. Team B stations outside the area, each player with a ball.
Procedure: At your command, Team B players dribble into the area and attempt to pass their balls to contact Team A players below the knees. All passes must be made with the inside or outside surface of the foot. Team Aplayers are free to move anywhere within the area to avoid being hit by a ball. Any player contacted with a ball below the knees is eliminated from the game. That player must go outside the area and practice individual ball juggling until the game is completed. The game continues for three minutes or until all Team A players have been elimi¬nated, whichever comes first. Repeat with Team B stationed within the area without soccer balls.
Scoring: You be the official timekeeper. The team eliminating all its opponents in the least amount of time wins. Repeat the game several times, switching team roles each time.
Practice tips: Emphasize passing accuracy rather than power. Encourage players to dribble as close as they can to their intended target before passing the ball. Adjust the playing area size to accommodate the ages and abilities of your players.
